Initiated by JGI-Shanghai Roots & Shoots in 2006, the EcoOffice Program provides a new perspective on environmental education and what a “green” lifestyle is. The Eco-Audit Program trains local high school and university student R&S groups on how to perform an environmental audit to help office employees, students and their own families and communities reduce waste while raising environmental awareness.
During a tour of Shanghais, China in May of 2008, the program was presented to a sustainability group touring the city that included Kevin Daniels. After realizing the importance and simplicity of the program, and its impact on educating youth on sustainability issues, Kevin came back to Seattle and worked with ERM and JGI-Shanghai to modify the program so it can be used in the US.

Recently, the program has launched and is collaborating with the Cool School Challenge program to roll out EcoOffice program to all of their participating schools in the state of Washington.
